Superfood carrot

The orange vegetable and its countless health benefits.

Carrots are real all-rounders when it comes to their use in our kitchen. They are excellent as they are, in their raw state and are also easy to use in salads, juices or sweet dishes such as cakes. The carrot originally comes from Asia, but is now grown all over Central Europe. So what exactly makes orange vegetables so healthy and powerful? Let us give you interesting background knowledge about this vitamin bomb.

What’s in a carrot?

Anyone who has already wondered where the rich and intense colour of the carrot comes from should look into the term "carotenoids". These are also known as "fat-soluble pigments" and are not only available in carrots. Carotenoids can also be found in the cells of plants as well as in animals such as birds and their plumage. The carotenoids are distributed through the absorption of plants containing dyes. Beta-carotene, which is responsible for the conversion of vitamin A, is a type of carotenoids. Vitamin A can positively influence and improve our vision. So it is not surprising to hear when people say that carrots are noticeably good for our eyes.

Like many other vegetables, carrots consist largely of water. Nearly 90 percent of this is water. This makes the carrot extremely low in calories and hydrating. The approximately 3.6 grams of dietary fibre found in 100 grams of carrots swell in the stomach and purify our body in a healthy and natural way. Fresh and raw carrots in particular can make us feel satiated for longer.

In addition to the high water and fibre content, there are almost 5 grams of carbohydrates, 1 gram of protein and only 0.2 grams of fat in 100g of carrots. The vegetables get their sweet note from the 2 grams of naturally occurring sugar.

Healthy carrot products from Lifefood

The healthy properties, as well as the good combination of nutrients, soon convinced us here at Lifefood. We use these positive properties to create delicious and unique products. In order to preserve all important nutrients, we gently dry the carrots below 45 degrees (remaining raw) before further processing.

Our raw and vegan carrot crackers take on the sweet taste of the carrot and are seasoned exclusively with sea salt. In order to further strengthen these nutrients, our carrot crackers are also enriched with sunflower seeds and golden linseeds from certified organic cultivation. Gold linseeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and have a higher satiety capacity than brown linseeds. They are delicious as a snack between meals, and also as an accompaniment to soups and salads or simply if you fancy a bit of "crunch" on top of your salad!

If you are looking for a change in taste, you will also enjoy this fantastic vegetable in other nutritious and healthy varieties of our crackers. This is the case in our hearty vegetable bread made from linseeds, tomatoes, celery and Brazil nuts - all combined with the taste of the carrot and without added salt. The high-fat content of Brazil nuts adds a thoroughly positive character. Due to their unsaturated fatty acids, their protein content of about 14 percent at 100 grams and vitamin B1, these nuts are a truly healthy addition and help with the absorption of vitamin A from the carrot.

For fans of Italian cuisine and Mediterranean flavours, our Italian vegan crackers made with sun-dried tomatoes, intensive herbs and carrots offer a healthy alternative to bread. They complement any of your favourite dishes and salads.

If you are in the mood for nibbles, our pizza bites are exactly the right thing. Dietary fibre and unsaturated fatty acids not only make this snack extremely healthy, but they also stimulate our digestion. In order to keep them natural, we created them without added preservatives or excessive seasoning. These mini crackers are seasoned with selected herbs and a dash of lemon juice.
